Safeguarding Adults and Children+
This half-day course has been developed jointly by the Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children services and it designed for practitioners in both Adult and Children’s Services. It raises awareness of safeguarding issues for both adults and children at risk and considers how practitioners in Adults and Children’s services might work more effectively together.
Increasingly practitioners across both adults and children’s services are being encouraged to develop family-based approaches to working with vulnerability and need and this course provides an excellent opportunity to begin to explore the implications of this for practice.
Staff should have completed their own agency Basic Safeguarding Children or Adults face to face training or the Sheffield Children Safeguarding Partnership Online E-learning Safeguarding Children training, before applying for this specialist course.

Graded Care Profile 2 Training +
1 day training to gain licence for using the Graded Care Profile Tool from the NSPCC.
What is the GCP2
The GCP2 is a practical tool which supports practitioners in measuring the quality of care delivered to an individual child from an individual carer or carers over a short window of time and is designed to give a representative overview of the current level of care. The grades are based on observations and good quality evidence gathered during this window. The GCP2 reviews "what it's like" for the child not "why it's happening". It helps professionals to be clear about what the basic needs of a child are, and to what degree they are being met. This allows practitioners to make reasoned and explicit judgements in relation to neglect.
Book a place on the 1 day course here
Short briefings are available for those who want to know more about GCP2. These are suitable for practitioners and strategic managers who require an understanding of the tool but won't need to use it in practice or supervision.

FASD training - prevention, diagnosis, and support for those affected by FASD +
FASD (Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) is a neurological condition that affects people throughout their life. The condition is entirely preventable.
No amount of alcohol at any stage of pregnancy is safe for the baby.
A recent study in Salford gave a crude prevalence rate of 4% of the population. People with FASD often fall through the gaps in services, particularly during transitions, and are vulnerable to homelessness and entry into the criminal justice system. Identification and thorough psychological assessment can identify strengths and areas of difficulty, and with knowledge of that profile the affected person can thrive, and services can respond appropriately.
Focus on FASD – Part 1
This training will increase your awareness and understanding of FASD, identify the causes and the long-term effects of FASD and provide you with the understanding and knowledge to support your service users.
