Policies, procedures & guidance

Updated policies, procedures & guidance for Sheffield education settings are currently being added to this page and will be completed in September 2018. This includes some new documents, please ensure you read and implement them in your setting as appropriate.

Designated Safeguarding Leads and Deputies will receive an email outlining any changes that have been made to the documents, in line with the recently updated  DfE guidance 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' and 'Working together to keep children safe'.

Ofsted have confirmed that Sheffield education settings can adopt the safeguarding policies below which together make a safeguarding or child protection policy for your setting. The Local Authority is responsible for ensuring that they are accurate and updated annually.  The key pieces of national and local safeguarding children guidance can be found on the right side of this page.

The setting should:

  • Download the appropriate documents into a folder
  • Complete the document 'A Safeguarding Children Policy Frontsheet' in the Toolkit
  • Include your examples of implementing safeguarding in the curriculum and wider activities
  • Add related policies, for example: attendance, behaviour, bullying, health and safety, equality and diversity
  • Ensure all staff have accessed and understood these policies
  • Make this folder available to parents and carers
  • Include a link to this section on your school website
