Policies & procedures
2020 changes to the way we publish our safeguarding policies, procedures & guidance:
- We have combined similar documents to reduce the total number of policies
- We have created a ‘guidance’ page for useful good practice guidance
- All new documents are in a format accessible to people who use screen readers (A at end of file date)
- We have added the changes from Keeping Children Safe in Education, DfE 20 and other national and local guidance
In September 2020 Ofsted confirmed that:
When inspecting under the Education Inspection Framework Ofsted Inspectors must follow the “Inspecting safeguarding in early years, education and skills settings” guidance. This does not specify how a school’s safeguarding policies must be written but does specify that these policies “are in place, consistent with government guidance, refer to locally agreed multi-agency safeguarding arrangements and are regularly reviewed.”
The Sheffield Children Safeguarding Partnership and the Safeguarding Children Advisors in QAIS (SCC) ensure that the policies below are accurate and updated annually. The key pieces of national and local safeguarding children guidance can be found on the right side of this page.
To adopt the policies below:
- Download the appropriate documents into a folder
- Complete How our education setting safeguards students, Sept 20A (previously 'Safeguarding Front Sheet')
- Include your examples of implementing safeguarding in the curriculum and wider activities
- Add related policies, for example: attendance, behaviour, bullying, health and safety, equality and diversity
- Ensure all staff have accessed and understood these policies
- Make this folder available to parents and carers
- Include a link to this section on your school website
Coronavirus Addendum:
All education settings are required to have a 'Coronavirus Addendum' to their current safeguarding policy. Our updated guidance for this is below but we have not included it in our full set of policies and procedures as the guidance may change frequently as current circumstances evolve:
