Policies & procedures

For 2020-21 we have made some changes to the way we publish our safeguarding policies & procedures templates:

  • We have combined similar documents to reduce the total number of policies
  • We have created a ‘guidance’ page for useful good practice guidance
  • All new documents are in a format accessible to people who use screen readers
  • We have added the changes from Keeping Children Safe in Education, DfE 2020 and other national and local guidance

Ofsted have confirmed that Sheffield education settings can adopt the safeguarding policies below which together make a safeguarding or child protection policy for your setting. The Local Authority is responsible for ensuring that they are accurate and updated annually.  The key pieces of national and local safeguarding children guidance can be found on the right side of this page.

The setting should:

  • Download the appropriate documents into a folder
  • Complete How our education setting safeguards students, Sept 20A (previously 'Safeguarding Front Sheet')
  • Include your examples of implementing safeguarding in the curriculum and wider activities
  • Add related policies, for example: attendance, behaviour, bullying, health and safety, equality and diversity
  • Ensure all staff have accessed and understood these policies
  • Make this folder available to parents and carers
  • Include a link to this section on your school website
