Training for Education Settings

All training from the Local Authority in Sheffield follows the current national guidance and the local Sheffield Children Safeguarding Partnership (SCSP) guidance. These documents are available on the right side of this page.

This section outlines the safeguarding children training available from the Quality Assurance and Involvement Service (QAIS), Sheffield City Council and the Sheffield Children Safeguarding Partnership (SCSP) for Sheffield education settings.

If you follow the training pathway below you should find the relevant courses and application forms in each section. All school staff in Early Years and Foundation Stage should follow this training pathway.

Some training required by safeguarding staff in educations settings is delivered elsewhere. To find out more, follow these links:

  • Prevent Training - this is the 'required' course for all Designated Safeguarding Leads & Deputies and is provided free of charge through 'Learn Sheffield'. For more information please email: bookings@learnsheffield.co.uk

  • Understanding Pathways to Extremism and the Prevent Programme e-learning - this new course is available through Virtual College for other staff in education settings. Follow this link to find out more and register for the course: Virtual College e-learning courses and registration

  • Safer Recruitment - mandatory face to face training for the recruitment of staff in education settings, through 'Learn Sheffield'. For more information please email: bookings@learnsheffield.co.uk

  • Child Sexual Exploitation - required by CSE Leads and available through the Sheffield Sexual Exploitation Service, tel. 0114 201 8645.
