Safeguarding Workshop - Hope in the Dark: Courage and Compassion for Managers (part 2)

In this workshop for managers Michael West will address four key areas.  First, the importance of sustaining compassionate leadership in the context of unprecedented pressures.  Second, how to create and support (really) effective team working to ensure effectiveness of our services and the wellbeing of staff.  Third he will emphasise the importance of managers courageously working together to influence upwards across services in South Yorkshire to ensure we are shaping the future.  Finally, he will encourage having the courage to practise the hard stuff of self-compassion is vital and a core challenge to us all.

Michael West is Senior Visiting Fellow at The King’s Fund, London and Professor of Organisational Psychology at Lancaster University, Visiting Professor at University College, Dublin, and Emeritus Professor at Aston University.  He is a member of the Advisory Council of The Global Compassion Coalition and of the Advisory Board of the Center for Compassionate Leadership.  He supports many health and social care and other public sector organisations internationally to develop compassionate, high quality care cultures.  He was appointed a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2020 for services to compassion and innovation in healthcare.
