Multi-agency - Graded Care Profile 2 Training

A key priority for the implementation of Sheffield Children's Safeguarding Partnership's Neglect Strategy is for workers in all services in Sheffield to be able to recognise neglect earlier and intervene most effectively.

To support this priority Sheffield has purchased the Graded Care Profile 2 licence from the NSPCC.

What is the GCP2

The GCP2 is a practical tool which supports practitioners in measuring the quality of care delivered to an individual child from an individual carer or carers over a short window of time and is designed to give a representative overview of the current level of care. The grades are based on observations and good quality evidence gathered during this period.

The GCP2 reviews "what it's like" for the child not "why it's happening". It helps professionals to be clear about what the basic needs of a child are, and to what degree they are being met. This allows practitioners to make reasoned and explicit judgements in relation to neglect.

All practitioners and supervisors using the GCP2 must have attended and passed the licenced training advertised here.

Graded Care Profile Training is available to social care, early help practitioners, designated school safeguarding leads, 0-19 health practitioners, community nurses, youth workers, support workers in family accommodation schemes, tenancy support workers, other roles that do direct work with children, young people and families and would be in a position to undertake the GCP2 assessment.

This training day involves an assessment that attendees need to pass to use the tool in their practice. You must attend for the full day.

In order to obtain your GCP2 Practice certificate you will need to complete the GCP2 Practice training evaluation.
