Education Settings - Online Safety: A Whole School Approach

KEY INFORMATION TO READ BEFORE YOU BOOK

All DSL’s and DSD’s attending this course should have attended the New DSLs and Curriculum Co-coordinator Overview course unless they attended Advanced Initial DSL training in 2023-24 or 2024-25 or Advanced Refresher training in 2023-24.

Accompanying Online Safety Curriculum Coordinators should also enrol on the New DSLs and Curriculum Co-coordinator Overview course prior to attending this course.

Online Safety in Schools and Colleges is the responsibility of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

The DSL may delegate the day-to-day leadership of Online Safety to fully trained Designated Safeguarding Deputy and that person is known as the Online Safety Coordinator.

Additionally, schools may delegate the T&L leadership of online safety to an Online Safety Curriculum Coordinator.  This person must be supported in the role by a DSL/DSD who is also fully trained in Online Safety.

Online Safety Curriculum Coordinators must attend this course with a DSL/DSD.  (An exception can be made to this on a school-by-school basis if the DSL has attended this course in the last three years.  Please discuss this with your Safeguarding Advisor for Education).

This day will look at the needs around Online Safety for the Whole School and how it links to Safeguarding and Personal Development.  It will cover Policy, the needs of Staff and governors and will look at the ways we can engage parents.  We will also look in some detail at the curriculum needs around Online Safety and how Online safety leads can support colleagues to deliver these messages efficiently and effectively.

This training will take place over a full day, starting promptly at 9.00am so please ensure you arrive and are settled in good time for the start.  If you arrive late it will be at the trainer’s discretion to decide whether you need to re-book for another date.

The course is free for maintained schools and academies.  There is a charge for 'free' schools and 'independent' schools staff attending.

Attendance must be prioritised  Non-attendance without prior cancellation or agreement will be charged if it is not in line with our charging policy.

You must register or login to check availability on all course dates.

Places are limited to 3 places per school per course.  Additional places booked will be cancelled and you will be asked to move to another date.

If for some reason you are no longer able to attend please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your place to someone else.  You can cancel the booking up to 7 days prior to the course date by logging in to the booking system and clicking on 'My Account' in the top right of the page.
