Education Settings - Advanced Initial Safeguarding Children in Education 2023-24 (day 1 of 2 days)

For the academic year 2023-24 the Advanced Initial training courses will all be delivered face-to-face.

Please note that the 2023-24 courses are being delivered a day a week over two weeks, rather than on two sequential days.  This is in response to course evaluation feedback.

Before you complete this training you must have completed the face-to-face Basic Centralised/Whole-School Safeguarding Children in Education Training with Sheffield Children Safeguarding Partnership (SCSP) within the last 3 years or the e-learning Safeguarding in Education.

To take on the Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy role, this 2 day training must be completed with the SCSP through the Quality Assurance and Involvement Service (QAIS).  If you have held the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy in a different Local Authority prior to working in Sheffield please contact your settings Safeguarding Advisor for Education to discuss your training needs.

This course is also useful for pastoral and support staff with safeguarding responsibilities.

The course programme will consider legislation and practice guidance to understand the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead and deputy and to develop confidence to work in partnership with other agencies and professionals to support children and their families with safeguarding and child protection issues.

The course is free for maintained schools and academies.  There is a charge for 'free' and independent school staff attending.

To contact us about training telephone 0114 2734530 or email safeguardingchildrentraining@sheffield.gov.uk

You must register or login to check availability on all course dates.

**Places are limited to 3 per school per course.  Additional places booked will be cancelled and you will be asked to move to another date**.

If for some reason you are no longer able to attend please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your place to someone else.

You may be charged where non-attendance occurs without prior notice or where you fail to attend on the day.

Both Day 1 and Day 2 must be applied for at the same time of booking onto this 2 day course.

It is important that you book onto Day 2 of this training (see dates below) by completing the Day 2 booking form once you have booked your Day 1 training to ensure that you complete the entire duration of the course to receive your certificate.

You will receive a link to the Day 2 booking form with your Day 1 confirmation e-mail.

Please note you must book onto the Day 2 date that is paired with the Day 1 date in the table below.
